CoreBlue is looking for confident, experienced software developers to join our team. If you’re interested in using your skills to build technically excellent software, working on systems & products that leave a real-world impact then we’d love to know more about you. 

In the last few years, we’ve worked on banking apps for the Bank of Kigali PLC, a luxury property rental system for AMA Selections, a membership app for The Cruising Association and dozens of other projects across web & mobile in both the private and public sector. At CoreBlue, you’ll find yourself taking on a number of different problems; primarily in the development of high assurance software, but also supporting teammates, liaising with clients – all whilst maintaining a strong passion for technology and continuous learning. 

You’ll have the opportunity to work with an array of technologies and languages such as React (Typescript/JS), Node, Laravel (PHP) and Flutter. At CoreBlue, we aim to remain technology agnostic whilst we’re preparing for projects, allowing the requirements to guide us in technology choice. We would expect you to follow this same ethos and be excited about the challenge of perhaps working in a new language. 

Responsibilities include

  • Independently write code, working to solve complex problems identified in projects and proactively seeking support when needed. Whilst we expect a high level of skill from you, we are all always learning and we have built a culture of helping others.
  • Provide essential development contributions for SCRUM rituals such as standups, sprint reviews, retros and planning sessions. These usually take place as Slack or Teams calls running through the backlog on Jira and showcasing our work on staging environments.
  • Assist in the planning and requirements gathering of projects, deciding on development approaches with the support of other developers and liaising with project managers to produce estimates.
  • Run the deployment and testing features in staging and production environments to validate solutions in real scenarios. Your job doesn’t end at the submission of a PR, we take pride in our work and take responsibility for ensuring the code we write works seamlessly when deployed.
  • Provide essential feedback in code reviews for other developers across all projects we’re working on. Code reviews for us are a vital part of writing excellent code. You’d be expected to set and uphold the high standards we set and make sure you and your team are following best coding practices.
  • Supporting other developers, teaching them new skills and working alongside them to solve problems. Our team is built from junior to senior developers and with our culture of support, we encourage everyone to help where they can.

  • Working with our primary technologies: Node, React, Laravel, Flutter
  • Leading projects from start to finish, providing dependable technical leadership
  • Applying agile development principles across development teams
  • Creating highly scalable, resilient applications & databases for business critical systems
  • Working with 3rd party APIs and services
  • Debugging within development and production environments
  • Self-drive to improve and learn new skills and technologies
  • Passion for creating excellent software and solve real problems
  • Supporting the growth of others in your team to achieve high quality outcomes
