Placement Year Tuition Bursary

CoreBlue will grant a bursary to successful placement candidates, covering their placement year tuition fees.

You will be paired up with senior software developers and given the opportunity to work on real industry projects. Our placement students commonly have code in production within their first few months.

This is the fifth year CoreBlue will be taking placement students and we are proud to say that many of our most senior developers first joined us on their placement and have grown with us.

Bursary During Final Year

If you’re successful during your placement, you may be offered a full time position after you graduate. If so, we will offer you a bursary of £5,000 to support you during your final year of study.


What you’ll be doing

Your first few weeks will be an intensive training period, giving you the opportunity to learn new skills and build new tools and projects in a supportive environment, buddied up with a senior developer. Once you have gained confidence in the tools and technologies we use, you will sit within a core development team working on real industry projects.  


Responsibilities include

Working with project managers and other developers to help spec new projects, helping to decide key technologies and supporting estimates being produced.

Learning new skills and technologies, ensuring you’re staying at the top of your game. You’ll be learning so much more than you thought possible and you’ll be building incredible things with your new skills.

Writing code in real projects. We work in a number of different programming languages and we’ll give you the support and guidance you need to learn everything you need to write world class code.


The skills you’ll need

Our top priority is to have team members that are passionate, curious and exciting about the technologies we use and the problems we solve. You will need an eagerness to learn and a drive to solve problems. Many of the problems we solve are challenges we’ve never faced. It is our drive that gives us the ability to learn and take action.

You should be familiar with various programming languages and programming concepts. We understand you will be new to programming and we fully expect you to have never written in many of the languages we use. It will help you to understand the principles of good code and well written software.

You’ll be great at communicating with your team and the people around you. We encourage everyone, even senior developers to speak up when they’re stuck. It is better to speak up and learn than to sit in silence and struggle.


The good to haves

  • An on-going degree in a computing related course with high module grades and high predicted grades
  • A familiarity with agile and waterfall methodologies
  • An ability to learn fast and retain technical knowledge
  • A passion for technology and digital

  • Development: We’ll add to your skillset. We’re aiming to become the best in class. As such, you’ll be enrolled in scheme’s and have transferable skills, such as AWS certifications. If there is something you’re passionate about that will be beneficial to your role, we’ll cover the training costs
